Prior to the commencement of the installation of the photovoltaic panels, further details of the proposed fixing methodology and installation process shall be submitted to and approved in writing by the Local Planning Authority. The submitted details shall include: a) a method statement for the installation of the photovoltaic panels, including details of any temporary lifting, removal and reinstatement of roof coverings where required; b) confirmation of the measures to be employed to protect the historic roof structure and fabric during the installation works; c) details of the proposed routing and fixing of all associated cabling, equipment and connections; d) a procedure to be followed in the event that previously unidentified historic fabric, structural defects or archaeological features are encountered during the works; and e) a structural assessment prepared by a suitably qualified structural engineer demonstrating that the existing roof structure is capable of accommodating the additional loading associated with the photovoltaic panels, mounting system and associated equipment, together with details of any structural strengthening works considered necessary.
